Well, at least you can cook and do other things. My dad's side of the family is REALLY unmusical and my Dad can't sing for peanuts. To make matters worse, he knows his terrible singing annoys us so he does it just to tick us off.
Growing appart from your friends?? Awww. That sucks. I hate that. People change and things don't work anymore. Eventually you find a new group of people to hang out with but that in-between stage reeks.

"You're not mating with me sunshine!!" LMAO
My family is a little like yours. My mother and sister played the saxophone as well and my aunts and grandma can play a little piano. For some reason the music gene just skipped me though.
And I might be music retarded, and don't know exactly what a C is, but I appreciate anyone that can sing.
I use to have pick-up line contests but since growing apart from my friends we haven't had one lately.
As for my best/worst, I can't think of one at the moment. I'm not good with on the spot sort of things. I'll try to thin of one later though.

Really?? I love music, but then again, I come from a musical family. My mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (same line) are all piano teachers . . . or was in the case of my great-grandmother . . . my sister plays piano and saxophone and I gave up piano to study singing! I can actually sing, surprisingly. I'm a soprano. I can get up to about a C above High C if you know where that is.
Yeah, pick-up lines are so stupid!! There are girls at my school who have competitions to see who can come up with the worst one!! What's your best/worst pick-up line??
--
"You're not mating with me sunshine!!" LMAO
I'm not musical at all actually. I've tried playing for the school band and even attempted choir but I've failed at both. But, I have mad cooking skills so that makes up for my lack of musical ability, I think.
As for the pick-up line bit, I just think they're funny. I don't actually use them to see if I can get someone like those frat boys I just use them for kicks and giggles.

Yeah, German is brilliant. Also, my school has a great German Exchange program with a sister school in Bavaria (Southern Germany).
No you wouldn't, it's a bit weird actually. I remember things without realising I have. A couple of years ago in a school musical I was in the chorus, but because I'd heard all the lines at rehersals I knew them off by heart! My parents who were watching from the audience told me later that I'd mouthed every single line perfectly and I hadn't even realised what I was doing!! What I think would be more annoying is having perfect pitch . . . are you musical?? Continueing, I had a piano teacher once who had perfect pitch and she said to me 'this is the horn of the Cheltnam train' and played the chord perfectly. She also said that if she hears a car horn her first reaction is 'Oh that's A flat' not 'I wonder what's wrong there'!
Pick-up lines?! What would an intelligent, 19-year old (and probably good looking) college girl want with a pick-up line?! Aren't they normally reserved for drunk frat boys and middle-aged losers!!
--
"You're not mating with me sunshine!!" LMAO
In that case no younger than 15.
Brownie points to you, German is a great language to learn and study.I was actually hoping to take some German classes myself.
And I would kill to have a memory like yours. The only thing I can flawlessly quote is Marc Antony's speech and about 20 lines from the bible from when I was forced to attend private school. Anything else I happen to remember is either useless knowledge or pick-up lines.

Art teacher?! Awesome! My fave subjects at the moment are History, English, Drama, Art, Music and German . . . well, they're the core subjects, not the actual course names.
I've always had a weirdly good memory. I remember things that I love or interest me effortlessly. I can remember and recite poems I learnt in grade 2 flawlessly, I can tell you heaps of stuff about history and a million bits of useless information . . . here's the scary bit: We went and saw Pirates of Penzance last year done by the Australian Opera Company and then my sister got the DVD of the production . . . I watched the DVD about six times then one night I was lying in bed one night and though 'hmm I wonder how far I can sing through in my head'. I got through most of the first act and almost all of act two perfectly . . . I told you it's scary!!
--
"You're not mating with me sunshine!!" LMAO
And I'm studying to be an art teacher...I think. I haven't exactly decided what I wanted to do so I'm taking basics like philosophy, art history and english.
You put me to shame with your vast knowledge.

I'm always on the lookout for good new movies.
What are you studying?? Where are you studying?!
Yeah, I love fairy tales . . . especially old myths! I love the Legend of Robin Hood, King Arthur, the Illiad and the Odessey and countless numbers of Ancient Greek Myths!! I'm also a real history nerd. My areas of interest/expertise include: Classical Egyptian (monarchy, culture, Tutankhamen, Hatshepsut, the pyramids), Roman(architechture, culture, society) and Greek (culture, society and mythology), The Legend of King Arthur, William the Conquerer, The Legend of Robin Hood, Medieval culture/society, Black Plague, The War of the Roses, Tudor and Elizabethan England (culture, society, Monarchy, literiture, Shakespeare), Marie Antionette, Elizabeth of Austria, Victorian England (society, monatrchy, culture, literiture esp. plays), 1st and 2nd World Wars (es. Gallipolit and the London Blitz), Australian History (esp. Convict settlers and the Kelly Gang) and probably several other things I've forgotten to mention . . .
Gee, that was a long one!!

I must admit Brothers Grimm it did have a nice touch of comedy though. However, the thing that really sucked me in was my love for fairy tales. It sounds a little strange coming from a college kid but I'm just overly interested in them.
--

I'm evidently a lot younger than you and have seen a lot less movies . . . I really like Brothers Grimm though, I thought for what is was it was extremely well done and the dodge humour sealed the deal! There was the added bonus of Heath Ledger being in it . . . but I thought that before he died. I can't bring myself to watch it now. An amazing Aussie talent.

"You're not mating with me sunshine!!" LMAO
Quills is about Marquis de Sade writing novels in a mental institution basically. There are a lot of sexual scenes but it has the idea of love and the pain of love. As for A Clockwork Orange, it's about violence, milk bars, and the price people have to pay to be the ideal citizen. It's great if you have a strange sense of humor.
Comedy/Romances usually don't interest me but there are a few exceptions. I won't go out of my way to buy them but I will watch it if they're around.
I have seen Brother's Grimm though. I wouldn't put it in my favorites but it is really good.

Sophie Scholl is pretty slow moving but I really like it . . . and that's coming from someone with a ridiculously short attention span! Like that of a two year old on coke.
--
"You're not mating with me sunshine!!" LMAO
As for me, I love:
1. Quills
2. A Clockwork Orange
3. Love, Actually
There are a lot of movies I enjoy but those are the only ones I can watch over and over.
--
You can't avoid holiday shopping -- the music, the squealing children, everything -- it's like a peppermint orgy.
Atonement is brilliant, I wouldn't expect anyone to know of 'Sophie Scholl' coz no one else does, and Joyeux Noel is just breath-taking . . . if you haven't seen it YOU NEED TO!!
What are your fave movies??
--
"You're not mating with me sunshine!!" LMAO
As for Mel Brooks and Monty Python, they make amazing movies.
--
You can't avoid holiday shopping -- the music, the squealing children, everything -- it's like a peppermint orgy.
These are probably not to your taste but:
1. Atonement (Eng, 2007)/Joyeux Noel (French/Ger/Eng)
2. Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (Ger)
3. (so I'm cheating, this is four) Memoirs of a Geisha
And then running close behind those are two Monty Python films, a couple of Mel Brooks movies, a brilliant dark fantasy directed by Terry Gilliam, and a few old school classic musicals!! A bit of an odd mix . . .
--
"You're not mating with me sunshine!!" LMAO
Foreign films are always nice though. But unless I get one online or borrow one from a friend the choices are pretty limited to what I can quickly get my hands on.
And if you don't mind me asking, what are your top three picks?
